My Butterfly

MY BUTTERFLY

Like blades of woven silk

Her wings white like milk

An angel in disguise

Carrying the burden of life in her eyes

Shelter from my hurricanes

My heart's cocoon when I am in pain.

Sitting on my shoulder tickling my ear

Her mighty winds blow away all my fears.

The world may turn its back on me in disgust

But in her I can always put my full trust.

Her antennae stay tuned to my soul

Her spirit fluttering within me from my head to my toe.

Whenever I feel shaken or stirred

I am calmed by her soft words.

For there's no other place I'd rather be

Than between her wings

Wrapped in unconditional love and honesty.

Before I speak she knows what I'm thinking

Listens to my cries of shame without even blinking.

Never been my judge in a black robe

Forgives me before I do what I haven't been told.

I would walk three thousand miles

Just to hold her hand and see her smile.

Her lullaby takes me up so high

Like a winged diamond in the sky.

Always focused on the dawn's horizon

Blazing faith in God and tomorrow

Hot enough to bake apple pies on.

In her eyes I can do no wrong

No matter how I stray she will never leave me alone.

I am but a caterpillar

In the mirror of my mind's eye.

Heaven is where we will again fly together.

Me and my grandmother.

My Butterfly....
